Photographing your moments in San Francisco, California

What began as preservation became a passion. Working alongside skilled craftsman Pete, we spent a year carefully bringing St. Clement's back to life – creating a meaningful space for today's celebrations. The restoration revealed on March 15th, 2025, marked a new beginning: a non-denominational space where couples can celebrate love in whatever way feels authentic to them.

St. Clement's Church has lived many lives. Built in 1910 as a Church of England parish, it served the local community for decades before being deconsecrated in 1971. For fifty years, this little timber church stood quietly on the Great Alpine Road – weathered, waiting, and full of character. When I purchased the property in 2021, I felt an immediate sense of responsibility for this beautiful old building.

A New Chapter Begins

St. Clement's has truly lived many lives while maintaining its soul.

From Abandonment to Restoration to Celebration

When we began restoration in April 2024, St. Clement's needed serious care. The building was structurally sound but had suffered years of neglect – rotten weatherboards, termite damage, and a vestry that was little more than a shell. Every decision was made with respect for the building's heritage, preserving the original weatherboard exterior and maintaining the simple, authentic feel of the space.

The Restoration Journey

We restored the beautiful walnut altar rail by hand and carefully integrated modern additions – discreet electrical work and a stylish outdoor amenity block – chosen to enhance comfort without compromising character. The result is a church that feels both timeless and welcoming, ready to hold space for whatever celebration you're creating.

I didn't set out to restore a church, but once I became St. Clement's custodian, I couldn't let it fall further into disrepair. This project became deeply personal – a responsibility to honour the building's history and the community's connection to it.
St. Clement's has always been a place for weddings. Since moving here, I've met countless people who were married in this church or have relatives who were. It felt natural to continue that tradition while opening the doors to couples of all backgrounds and beliefs.
